"Tess"

Ricky and Trina have been in the cattle business for over 25 years, as a Rodeo Stock Contractor/Producer and raising beef cattle on their farm.

We started in the cattle business in 1984 by purchasing 10 registered Brangus heifers.
The heifers bloodline went back to the OKL foundation Brangus names like Brinks, Brinks Carson, Rocky Joe, Extra of Brinks and Exacto of Brinks. Today, we still have 12 Brangus females that are direct descendants of our old foundation Brangus females.

Then came the bulls and our first one came from Vancil Cattle in Piggott, AR. VCR Sir Bibb9/1 was very calm and the most docile bull that we have owned to date. He sired numerous heifers for us.

Over the 10 years we had our registered herd, 2 Brangus bulls emerged to be winners in the professional show ring. Wildcard 439/7 and Paragons Rawhide 614/6 competed across 6 states at state fairs and jackpots and won numerous trophies, money, and other awards.

Since our humble beginnings, the cattle operation has grown to over 200 acres with 100 + cow/calf units of crossbreeds and black cattle.  We decided to go with a more commercial cattle herd so Ricky replaced our Brangus bull with either a Charolais and Hereford bull (depending on the market) and what our herd looked like at the time.

Today, we have females at 2 locations with the Hereford bull being "Kingpin" at one place and the Charolais bull at another location.

We strive for performance and a strong maternal side. As Ricky states, "without a good strong cow you do not have much to work with, believe me, we have bottle-fed calves when necessary, and learned if the momma cow can't meet this fundamental requirement they are immediately culled."

Culling animals is an important part of the improvement process and can be very upsetting, when we need to sell cows we liked.  Our focus is on quality not quantity and the focused on producing the best cattle possible.

Ricky is full time in the business, which can result in a lot of "thinking" and planning. Trina is almost like the herd manager because she knows every cow by name or tag.  Along with Ricky, she has developed an eye for the herd and their genetic value.  Also, their married son Zac, lives a few miles away on another part of the land, with his family.  Zac has a full time job but helps on the ranch whenever there is an emergency on the ranch, or Ricky & Trina are away.
